The Cincinnati Bengals self-imploded Saturday as emotions ran high for the entirety of the game. In the end, it was the name you hear nearly every weekend, and not in a good way. Vontaze Burfect was once again shown to be one of the most undisciplined players in the league even after you know Head Coach Marvin Lewis warned him to keep his head.
It began with a vicious Burfect head shot to receiver Antonio Brown after an incomplete pass. the hit left Brown on the turf and possibly unconscious for a few seconds. The ensuing penality sent CB Adam “Pac Man” Jones into a frenzy that culminated in Jones pushing the referee into throwing another flag. 15 yards later, the Steelers kick the ball for an 18-16 win.
“We won the game, that’s all that matters,” QB Ben Roethlisberger said.
The Steelers must now prepare for a trip to Mile High Stadium, where they take on the Denver Broncos in an AFC Divisional match up. Roethlisberger is currently listed as day to day after taking a brutal hit from Burfect at the end of the third quarter. Big Ben was reinserted into the game with a minute and change remaining in the game.
“You’ve got to salute the man,” Steelers guard Ramon Foster said Saturday night. “He’s a guy that’s proven to be a winner.”
